FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin, TX – 6 November 2007 -- Oak Micros announced today the om128 microcontroller based on the Atmel ATmega128. A key design feature of the om128 is its compact 40-pin DIL style packaging that allows the device to be used on breadboards and in other thru-hole applications. The om128 includes a built-in bootstrap loader for easy downloading of programs using a serial port. One advantage of the om128 over similar devices is that the download can be initiated from the host PC without requiring user intervention. The om128 is suitable for the hobbyist and professional alike and provides a powerful, easy to use platform for scientific and industrial control applications.

The om128 is based on same hardware platform as the successful Oak Micros ZX128e and features 32 I/O pins, true voltage level RS232 transceiver, slide switch to choose between RS232 and logic voltage levels for USART0, LED monitoring on two I/O pins, a 5 Volt regulator, and power monitor LED. A RAM daughter board allows user programs to address over 63K of RAM for program variables, task stacks and heap storage and permits the om128 to be used in RAM intensive applications such as Web Servers and data collection/management engines.

The om128 is supported by a software package that includes example programs, command line and GUI downloader tools for Windows, and the bootstrap loader source code. More information about Oak Micros' products and a free download of the software package and documentation is available at http://oakmicros.com. The single unit pricing is $59.95. Volume pricing is available.
